| Come to Costa Rica! And play bridge? The answer is a resounding YES! While English is the primary language spoken, bridge players know that where there is a bid box, bridge is the only language you need to know. We have players whose native language is Spanish, German, Dutch, French and English (U.S., Canadian and British versions). Most of our games are held at the Bridge Center located near the SW corner of the large park in downtown San Jose (Parque Sabana). Click on the San Jose Bridge Club tab at the top of this page for details. The table fee is c4000 (about $8) for members, c5000 (about $10) for non-members. We also have a game on Tuesday afternoons in the town of Atenas in the western hills of the Central Valley, about 30km from downtown San Jose, easily reached by the new high-speed toll road. The table fee for this game is c2000 (about $4). Because the the game is played in the back of a bar with music playing and table service available, we normally play 21 boards. However, master points are awarded in all games. The Monday game in San Jose is an ACBL sanction, with the results processed directly to ACBL-HQ. The other games are WBF sanctions and pay normal master points but are processed through the WBF. ACBL members receive points but expect a delay in processing. |
